6. - The FLAMENCO Art, This is Jerez man!!!!!

One of the most important attraction of Jerez is the FLAMENCO art. Someone said long time ago that Jerez was the cradle of this art, it may be he was right, but there is something it is sure, many FLAMENCO artist have born in this town, particularly in two neighborhoods, San Miguel and Santiago, where many of its inhabitants are of gypsy race.

As a recognition to Jerez on this particular subject, the regional government of Andalusia established in this town The Andalusian Center of Flamenco, with the aim of studying and promoting this art everywhere. It is very important for this matter the contribution given by the "Peñas flamencas", association of flamenco lovers, where take place all kind of event related to this art.

It is important to say, that every year, in February/March, is celebrated the Flamenco Festival of Jerez, with spectacles in the Villamarta theatre and other places.
